The correct operation steps for a sanitation garbage truck during its running-in period are as follows: This period usually lasts for 3000-5000 kilometers and the garbage truck‘s speed should be kept below 80 km/h. Every time the garbage truck is started, it should be warmed up for about 30 seconds, and during the break-in period, high-speed driving should be avoided. If high-speed driving is necessary, it should be limited to below 100 km/h. Loading and unloading should be done according to the manufacturer’s instructions and should not involve overloading, overspeeding, or incorrect operation.

During the running-in period of a sanitation garbage truck, certain maintenance tasks should be performed at different stages to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the vehicle. Let’s take a look at these maintenance tasks:

  1. Within the first 100 kilometers of driving, the friction brake pads are not fully effective, and tire friction is insufficient. Thus, it’s important to apply extra force while braking. Additionally, inspect and tighten exposed bolts and nuts, refill fuel and engine oil, replenish coolant, and check the air pressure of transmission, front and rear drive axles, drive shafts, hubs, and tires. Lastly, verify the braking capacity of lighting instruments, batteries, and braking systems.
  2. From 100 to 500 kilometers of driving, tire adhesion is still not at its peak. As a result, drivers should avoid emergency braking when cornering quickly. As part of the maintenance tasks, replace the engine oil and clean the oil pan with kerosene. Change the oil filter element and tighten the front and rear hub nuts.
  3. Between 500 and 2500 kilometers of driving, drive gently with a speed of no more than 100 kilometers per hour and 2500 rpm.
  4. From 2500 to 3500 kilometers of driving, when the water temperature reaches the working temperature, the driver can increase speed up to the maximum speed or the maximum engine speed. If the vehicle is domestic, replace the transmission, final reducer, and steering gear, and check the gear oil inside. Also, check and adjust the clutch pedal.
  5. After routine maintenance at 3000 kilometers, the moving parts of the vehicle will operate smoothly, and the vehicle will perform at its best. It’s important to follow these maintenance tasks during the running-in period to ensure the mechanical system of the new car is kept in top condition and its lifespan is prolonged. Drivers should not neglect this crucial maintenance.
